I train/compete abroad and want to play in British Tennis competitions; can I be assigned a higher rating?
Yes, if you can provide evidence of an international rating or ranking.
Please submit this evidence to email@example.com and it may be possible to assign a provisional rating which is higher than you would otherwise be assigned.
The British Tennis Services Team will require a link to websites which provides evidence of at least one of the following:
- Tennis Europe ranking, ITF junior ranking, ATP/WTA points (if available)
- Age group ranking either nationally or within a region
- Results against other British Tennis Members
Please note, providing a list of match/tournament results abroad will not support the Competitions Team in assigning a rating (unless the matches are against British Players).
Any equivalency rating will be provisional and will be reviewed once some matches have been played so may be subject to change. Once assigned a provisional rating you now need to compete in domestic competitions if your rating is to increase further. It’s not possible to climb the British Tennis ratings levels by requesting a further equivalency; the system is based on match results played between two British Tennis Members.
