How many matches do I need to play to move through the different levels of the Mini Tennis Ratings system?
The Mini Tennis Ratings chart shows the amount of matches and/or wins required to progress through the Mini Tennis Ratings ball colours.
In Red ball competitions the emphasis is on having fun and learning to compete as a result there are no Mini Tennis Red Ratings. Players will receive emails from the LTA congratulating them when they reach milestones after their first match, 20 matches and 40 matches. They will also receive a Mini Tennis Red T-Shirt from the LTA once they have played 20 matches.
In Orange and Green ball competitions, players need to compete in 6 matches to move from a level 4 to a level 3, in each ball colour. Moving from a level 3 to a level 2 is based on playing a further 20 matches and moving from a level 2 to a level 1 based on playing a further 40 matches and winning (at your own rating or better) 20 matches. A player can move from Level 1 to Level 1* level by achieving a further 20 wins against same ball colour Level 1 or 1* players in grade 1-5 tournaments.
Matches can only be used to help a player increase to the next level i.e. they may not be carried over to the next level.
