Are there any requirements to become a Welfare Officer?
Currently, for a venue to meet the Minimum Standards for Venue Registration criteria, the Welfare Officer will need to have in place a valid DBS Check* and have completed an approved safeguarding training course within the last three years.
*For a DBS Check to be valid it will need to be completed through the LTA, or if not, then the applicant will need to be a member of the Update Service. If the Welfare Office is a Volunteer then they can complete a Volunteer DBS Check which is valid for three years. Further information can be found in our Criminal Record Checks FAQs.
From 1 October 2018, all LTA Registered Venues were required to meet five standards as part of their LTA Venue Registration. More information on this and how it affects Welfare Officers can be found on our Minimum Standards for LTA Venue Registration page.
